Where do you go for geek talk? I have to say that tribe is my only outlet for that.
None of my friends are quite as technologically bent as me, so that makes it tough.

Re: Geek socialization?
Thu, September 30, 2004 - 8:01 AMI have a group of tech/geek/leftist friends that gets together every Sunday night to commit the ultimate in geekness. That is, play AD&D. :D We spend a coupe of hours talking sci, tech, politics, random stuff and eventually get around to playing.
The makeup of the group is me (sci ed and web dev), 1 comp tech/anarchist, 1 unadulterated comp tech, 1 tech phobic social worker turned window washer, 1 electrical engineer turned window washer, and 1 centrist average guy with football tendancies.

Re: Geek socialization?
Thu, September 30, 2004 - 8:18 AMI live in a college town, so fortunately there is an almost inexhaustible supply of geeks to...erm...co-geek-alate with. (to coin a term).
Sure...not everyone gets quite as juiced up as I do when I get a new season of DS9 on DVD...but at least they don't point and laugh. Much. -

Re: Geek socialization?
Thu, September 30, 2004 - 9:09 AMIn sort of the same vein, I was thinking about starting a "Gay Geek Week" up here in Provincetown. Sort of an early summer conference/meetup/ kind of thing. Have professional workshops and speakers, then a big social component to it as well. Computer geek being the focus.
What's your thoughts on that? Is it something you would attend? What types of workshops would you like to see? I'd like to have some web gurus (like meyer, et al) some to speak and show off css techniques.
Give me some feedback!
