Hi....new to the tribe. Well it's time to upgrade to a new computer. This one is still using Windows 98 and I get so many blue screen errors that I am ready to throw it out the window. Can anyone suggest a good desktop computer.I basically just need it to do some digital picture stuff and surf the web nothing to demanding, also I don't want to take out a loan to pay for it(ha-ha).Was looking online and was getting confused about which one to get. Any advice would be appreciated
Thanks
Mike

Re: New Computer
Fri, May 12, 2006 - 1:06 PMDid u definitely want 2 stick 2 a PC platform...
Not 2 join in with the Johnny come latelys who are just NOW coming on board with the recent 'Apple-boom'...
But in all actuality they really are very good lil' machines....
As a desktop, take a look perhaps at the Mac-mini.....esp if u already have a monitor and keyboard.....
Fully tricked out they can b well under a grand .... And have the new chip which runs both WIN and Mac OS....

It's more than just 'qool' to consider a Mac a viable option.....
Good luck...... -

Sat, May 13, 2006 - 7:15 AMAnd if you've got a little money to burn, give some serious thought to anything that still has a G5 processor in it. No matter what Apple may say, those babies are more powerful than the Intel chips. For starters, they have a front-side bus of 1Ghz (the Intels run at 667Mhz) and the G5 towers can be stacked up with way more RAM than a PC. I'm guessing that's part of why they haven't switched the towers over to the Intel chips yet...
