Sun, December 26, 2004 - 7:36 PMI use Norton as well. No problem. I had McAfee on a Win98 machine, it worked as anti-virus but I had trouble with the periodic updates.
Who is going to be the first comany to combine anti SpyWare with anti virus?

Tue, December 28, 2004 - 8:15 PMI have had McAfee for years and have never had any trouble. So tell your friend that McAfee is the best and updates more often. It also is more customizable.
And on the Mac comments - come on PCs kick ass.

Re: Best Windows Virus Software?
Wed, December 29, 2004 - 9:13 PMBeing a VAR, I sell products from all 3 majors, Norton, McAfee and Trend Micro. It depends on what the client wants. I personally recommend Norton Internet Security. Black Ice from ISS is another good offering.
No matter which software a client goes with, if they are running high-speed in the home or in a small-to-medium sized business, I HIGHLY recommend a hardware firewall such as the Linksys BEF-SX41. Although today's software firewalls are good, by the time they kick in and stop the creepy crawlies, they have already reached your system. A hardware firewall is an extra layer of protection between your system or network and the junk. They are also so inexpensive nowadays that everyone should use one.
I have personally used a Linksys Router and Norton Internet Security on my own systems for some time now and have never experienced any major problems. :)

Mon, April 25, 2005 - 7:51 PMMy company uses McAfee, I had always used Norton but didn't like how it slowed down my pc. Recently switched to Zone Alarm for Virus and Firewall and I'm very pleased with it. -
