Anyone out there running Windows XP installed Service Pack 2 yet? I got the update CD, but when I looked online, it seems that it's getting some mixed reviews. Provides a lot better security but doesn't necessarily work with all your software, etc.
Anyone with personal experience??

Re: Win XP SP2
Thu, October 14, 2004 - 11:46 PMI'm definitely not going to install until I get a new computer with either the upgraded OS or MS new one (Longhorn?). I already have a lot of the features via Zone Alarm, Spyblocker, etc. which reviews indicate SP2 had probs. Am I going to trust a company that took this long to install protection software?

Re: Win XP SP2
Fri, October 15, 2004 - 12:20 PMI personally haven't had any problems. We've installed it on several "guinea pigs" at the office and the machines are working fine with all of our software and virus protection. I have it at home and have run into no trouble. I've had several friends install it with no negative feedback.
Just my 2 cents.

Re: Win XP SP2
Mon, October 18, 2004 - 9:44 AMWell, I installed right away because I don't mind being on the cutting edge, and i'd rather lean towards being protected...
My computer now starts up more slowly, runs slower, crashes more often. (I'm not talking an application dying either, I'm talking about the entire PC just freezing and nothing will bring it back except turning it off and then on again.) The mouse cursor sometimes will start slowly drifting to the left even though the mouse isn't moving - I have a friend who has also installed SP2 and had this same strange problem.
Besides that every time I booted up, Windows warned that my Norton Anti-virus isn't reporting its status properly, and even updating and reinstalling didn't fix the problem, so I finally told Windows to stop checking the anti-virus software...
Other than that, everything is working fine... so far. :)
